It is a route with countless interesting points. From the “Forest house” in Pico da Cruz, the traveler can take the route to the left, towards Fajã de Janela, crossing a forest abundant in endemic species, and made even more beautiful thanks to natural springs. From the natural viewpoint of Lombo de Tampa, you will spot Fajã de Janela and the green valleys of Ribeiras de Penedo and de Janela, as well as Pontinha de Janela, and, in the background, the ocean. On the left, the Mirador of Santo Antonio das Pombas emerges, and, in the horizon line, the lighthouse “Fontes Pereira de Melo”, built in 1886 on a strategic place to help for maritime transport. This route can also be taken from this point near the coast.
Natural heritage
- Flora: Campylanthus (Campylanthus glaber spathulatus), Echium stenosiphon (Echium stenosiphon lindbergii), Sarcostemma (Sarcostemma daltonii).
- Fauna: Birds : Cape verde Shearwater(Calonectris edwardsii), iago sparrow (Passer iagoensis), brown-necked raven(Corvus ruficollis), Eurasian blackcap (Sylvia atricapila), lesse cape verde kestrel (Falco tinnunculus subsp. Neglectus), osprey (Pandion haliaetus), cape verde swift (Apus alexandri), Little egret (Egretta garzetta), Ruddy turnstone(Arenaria interpress) and the Whimbrel (Numenius phaeopus). Reptiles : gekko (Chioninia fogoensis antaoensis).

- Canyons, with forest covered of pinetrees, eucalyptus, various acacias, vine and the land covered with flowers and herbs.
- Endemic species of wildlife, including medicinal plants.
Cultural values :
- Celebration of the Imaculate Conception (8th of December).
- Pilgrimage of Santo António and São João (13th and 24th of June).
- Celebration of Nª Sr.ª da Piedade (Janela, 15th of August).
- Witches’s legends, particularly on the area of Ribeira de Janela.
- Local gastronomy : broth of cane, various types of bananas, vegetables, fried moray and various seafood.
- Local products : (Pico da Cruz); Grog(Ribeira de Janela).
